Firstly, I'll say that, despite the distance from family and friends, the weekend was both enjoyable and successful. I rested a lot, ate even more, and STILL didn't have to wear my turkey pants to school today. Huzzah!
[Libby's boyfriend] Matt and [co-worker] Whitney were both so kind as to invite me over for a traditional family Thanksgiving supper. I OBVIOUSLY accepted both invitations whole-heartedly, and was treated to two extra-large-and-in-charge turkey dinners, with enough leftovers to last almost a week. No joke, Whitney sent me home with one of those ice cream tubs full of food. And I'm not talking one of these:
I'm talking one of THESE puppies:
Needless to say, I was spoiled silly with mashed potatoes, zucchini boats, turkey, gravy, stuffing, all the seasonal veggies, and -- get this -- LIBBY MADE ME A BLUEBERRY PIE!
How sneaky! She nonchalantly asked me what food I was going to miss the most about Thanksgiving with my family, and without hesitation I noted my Aunt Lorraine's blueberry pie. Libby didn't mention it again until the day of Thanksgiving supper, when she made, from scratch, a blueberry pie to make me feel more at home! How thoughtful!! I've even had leftovers:
*ahem*...yes...there IS some pie with all that whipped cream... CUT ME SOME SLACK, PEOPLE, ITS THANKSGIVING!!
Tasha also insisted on celebrating with me after reading what was apparently a more depressed entry than I thought a week or so ago about my regrets of not being home for the holidays. We went to the closest place to a thanksgiving-type meal we could think of ... you got it...Swiss Chalet. Quarter chicken dinner and butternut squash soup? I think so! We then proceeded to see Looper, with my movie star crush and movie star birthday buddy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis respectively. Tasha caught onto the action quicker than I did (I'm going to say it was because I was mesmerized by JGL with green eyes and a slightly reconstructed face...), but even though I was a bit slow at catching onto the plot, I still got it eventually, and loved it - despite all the killing! Yep, he's that good.

I KNEW it was more than the eyes that made him look different, but check it out HERE what it was exactly
Anyway, enough about my future husband.
The rest of Thanksgiving weekend was also wonderful. I got some work done, slept a LOT (I believe I'm no longer indebted to my sleep bank!), spent almost an ENTIRE day skyping with long lost pals (even got face timed into our family mealtime!) and ALSO found time to play a bit of piano for fun! Whaddup!

sorry for the blur - the clear one was tarnished by less-than-desirable facial expressions by both of us...
Oh! And I guess this also falls under the "got work done" category, but I finished my arrangement of Some Nights for one of my choirs! Feel free to give my arrangement a listen via my class website here. I haven't added in dynamics or many articulations because that's part of our class project (to make sensible musical decisions). So in the final project, the melody will be clearer, the snare will be tighter, the vocals will actually have words, and all parts will be ...well, NOT MIDI. And, obviously, the one questionable word in the original has been changed appropriately...I just got this job, I can't afford to lose it.
Until Next Time,
B.
