Calvin and Hobbes said it best

Calvin: Isn’t it strange that evolution would give us a sense of humour? When you think about it, it’s weird that we have a physiological response to absurdity. We laugh at nonsense. We like it. We think it’s funny. Don’t you think it’s odd that we appreciate absurdity? Why would we develop that way? How does it benefit us?

Hobbes: I suppose if we couldn’t laugh at things that don’t make sense, we couldn’t react to a lot of life.

Calvin: (after a long pause) I can’t tell if that’s funny or really scary.

A post about my Thanksgiving weekend will be coming soon, but before I have the time to sit down and publish that, I thought I'd post this in the meantime to keep you entertained.  I carefully selected this brilliant quote for its particular relevance to the following sight I saw while driving home alone sometime this weekend:

2 guys, I'd guess to be mid/late 20s, sitting at a red light. Both wearing toques and aviators; both eating gigantic sub sandwiches. In between them perched a little Jack Russell Terrier.

I saw it and just I burst out laughing to myself, and I have no idea why I found it so funny. It seemed like something that would be the basis of a tv sitcom: Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place?  No, that's been taken.  How about Two Guys, Two Subs, and a Jack Russell? Seriously! Couldn't stop giggling!
Not only did I flat-out gawk at them, astonished and amazed, but just a few hours later while running errands, I simply THOUGHT about them and burst out laughing again.

no, they didn't notice me gawing - they were too
engulfed in their drool-worthy sandwiches, perhaps.

To myself.

That time, I think I might have even squeaked out a "why do I find that so funny?!".

To myself.

I think I'm going nuts.

Not sure if you agree with me on this one...maybe it's one of those 'you had to be there' things. But even now, as I type this, I can't wipe the smile off my face.

So this is a shout-out; a thank you, to those toque-wearing, sub-eating, J.R.T.-owning strangers, for making my day.
Keep on rockin'.

Until Next Time,
B.
