Bad idea?

Asking grade 6 students to write jokes on their test if they finished early was my most hilarious idea yet! Some were creative and used folded edges of paper, funny puns and drawings to go along with the joke. Others, not so much.

Either way, it really did make marking more fun.  One of my favourite entries prompted a giggle, followed by the obligatory "make sure your jokes are appropriate for class!" note:

Q: Why do squirrels swim on their backs?

A: To keep their nuts dry.

It never ends, really.

In other news, I slept for 14 hours straight last Saturday; attended the Festival of Trees, which was lovely; had a Christmas (!) baking afternoon; and survived my first night of parent-teacher interviews. Not as scary as I thought they'd be!

Until next time,

B.
