The Last of My Lazy Days

Hiya!

I figured that since it's Monday again, I'd give a quick post for the sake of keeping the tradition alive.

This week FLEW by. I didn't have much to do (although I probably should have done more work that's due after the break...) so I had yet another relaxing week. I am determined that when I get back from Easter, I will be much more motivated and productive. As much as I like sleeping in and going back to bed after breakfast, I hate the feeling of waking up at noon, spending half the day on facebook, practicing or doing one other productive thing a day, and then going to bed at 3am.

It's a pretty sweet lifestyle, yea, but I'm going to kick myself for it if I keep it up and then have to go back to Queen's next year. I feel so horribly for all my Queen's friends, they're all stressing out with end-of-term (some of them end-of-degree!) work and I'm sitting here bored out of my mind. But seriously. NO LONGER.

I have about 10 minutes of trombone repertoire to learn in 5 weeks (a last minute realization that means I'll have to really dedicate myself to it when I get back...and I am also determined to feel like I had a year well-spent, academically. I never thought I'd say it, but I find myself getting bored with the work sometimes! As much as I complain when I'm in over my head, at least I'm constantly learning...it's just so easy to put it off until the last second when I only have about 3 hours of class a week.

Apologies for the lack of humour and wittiness of this blog, but I do have to keep it short - I have a cab coming to pick me up in a few hours and I need to make sure I have everything packed!

I'm actually quite worried that my bag will be overweight...I'm hoping it'll be okay. I have no way of weighing it, so I just TOTALLY guessed...but I think we're allowed 20kgs and I don't think its as heavy as it was last time, when it weighed in at 23kgs. I think I should be okay...I hope so! Otherwise I don't know what I'm going to do!! :(

What ellllse? This week I went to 2 jazz shows at the Blue Lamp, a local pub with a lively jazz scene. A bunch of people from the university jazz band (and my teacher, Joe!) were playing and it was a great show, both days -- the first one was more big band stuff, and the second one more popular vocal hits (my mom would have LOVED it...there was probably like 5 songs in a ROW from her motown hits cd...).

And since then, I have fallen in love with jazz all over again. I mean, I've always liked it. But now I have my itunes jazz collection on random and I can't stop bopping. The sad part is, I got most of them from my uncle, and they're all listed as "track 01" and stuff, so I have no idea who's playing it, and what the titles of most of them are. Bahhhhhh.

Most people are gone from halls now, and its quite lonely! :( There's 2 other girls that are staying here for the break, but they're both in the downstairs bit, so I don't see them unless I go down to the kitchen or something. CREEPY. I can't wait to spend a wicked holiday traveling!! :)

As you can probably tell, I'm very distracted. I couldn't sleep last night cause I was so excited and now I'm tired and thinking about packing and waiting anxiously for Taxi Time to arrive.

Will update soon with pics of my travels and much better stories for you! I promise! :)

Thanks for Reading, and Until Next Time,

Beckers
