iPods for Alzheimer's

First things first:  So the title of this post isn't COMPLETELY accurate. It should be more like 'Digital Music Players for Patients with Dementia'...but that just doesn't seem as catchy, does it?

Secondly, you may think I'm overcompensating for not having posted in about a month, but this here is the update I promised about the music player drive/project coming to a close.

So yes! We FINALLY wrapped up the project on Wednesday with a little mini field trip with 2 student representatives from each school.  I had a good cross-section of grades and a good boy-girl balance, and all the students I brought with me seemed to enjoy themselves. I've already explained the project in another post, so if you want more background info, feel free to go check it out there!

THIS is the article posted from this week.

This is the article from the paper that was published in November.

And this is another one from one of the radio stations (HQ Grande Prairie/Free FM)

(I'll add any more that I hear of)

The only thing not in these articles is actually the best part of the day -- we actually got to go into the dementia unit and meet with 2 of the patients who will be benefiting from the music players. They were adorable and friendly, and both of them were French (but spoke enough English to talk to the students). We introduced ourselves, and got to ask them a bit about their musical interests, abilities, and how it has brought meaning into their lives. I'm so glad that we were able to touch base with some of them...it just made it all so much more real!

I'm so happy with how it all turned out, and just in case any of the donators are reading, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

To end off the post, here are a few pictures from the visit!
