This Is What Sundays Are Made For

It's only 12:10pm (and I've only been awake for 2 hours) and already this is a great day.

First of all, I'm wearing my yellow pants. Which not only remind me of Sweden, but it's a double bonus because they actually fit now. Huzzah!  Yellow pants day = great day. Guaranteed.

Secondly, I've made a fantastic-issimo playlist of Passion Pit, Dragonette, Nena's 99 Red Balloons, and Of Monsters and Men, and OK Go. You can try to listen to it here, but it wasn't cooperating very well this morning, so you may have to use your imagination.  Use this as a soundtrack as you finish reading this entry:

The original German version is also super cute. Look it up, yo!

And, I'm drinking a cup of delightful earl grey tea with vanilla. Can't get enough.

AND!

AND AND AND

ITSSUNNYOUTSIDEANDTHESNOWISGONEEEEE! Yes, it was necessary to make that into one giant word; I'm in such a good mood that not even that darn Target sign is bothering me.

What a nice serene start to what may be the calm before the storm (or, the storm before the storm?) of festival. But on the bright side, I can finally start to see that little speck of light at the end of the tunnel. Here's hoping it's not an oncoming train!

Onto the updates: My choir had the chance to sing with Mariana's Trench at their concert last week...here are some pictures!
Backstage, excited!

Just wanted to add this one because it turned out rather well.
No photoshop needed!

So onto the updates: on Thursday I had a meeting with the district principal who gave me my teaching evaluation. It was so positive I was going to cry.  Then I got all awkward (I'm so good at that!) and I was holding back tears and saying thank you over and over again and kind of blubbering through questions of where I want to be next year.  So that was a good meeting. Then I was personally introduced to the superintendent and we talked about the Mariana's Trench thing. How cool :)

First week of festival went alright - all my choirs sang through their pieces on Tues-Wed last week for an adjudicator. I was a bit disappointed at their attendance but we just went with what we had.  I took more away from the classes than my students, for sure -- God knows I'm flying by the seat of my pants, so it was nice to have someone actually listen and say "hey, you know, you should be doing it this way to maximize their potential" or "this would help them sing better", without being snooty.  Now we have some personalized tips, which I'm sure will be handy for the rest of the year, and in years to come (if anyone ever hires me into a choir position again....)

My JH choir and band at Crystal Park also performed for a Fine Spring Evening event. We were going to Rick Roll the audience but have decided to keep that for a later date when we can play my amateur arrangement more confidently. Muaahahahaaa

In other news, check out this ADORABLE rabbit!! A little late since Easter was like a month ago...but seriously! Bawwww:

HAHAHAHAHAAHAAAAAAA. I hope I got you.

Last awesome thing that makes today great...I'm picking out some new glasses frames!  I've mostly been looking here and here and since they are so cheap online, I have decided that I'll make one pair Readers Choice....so vote, or tell me what you think...or something.

And please, for heaven's sake, be nice.

That's it for now; I must go enjoy some sunshine! Miss you ALL!

Until Next Time,

B.
