Just wanted to let you know that yes, I survived my first (2!) days of teaching. Since I'm at 3 different schools, BOTH days were like "first" days, which was pretty nice. Right now, I'm working overtime on Starbucks internet because ours has been giving trouble at home, so this will be kinda short. With any luck, the internet will be back up and working once the technician comes in to our apt on Saturday.
House update:
-all moved in, all settled! Finishing touch in my room is a framed picture of all the Beatles albums, which I love!...did I share that already?
-Libby and I seem to be getting along pretty well, which is a plus :)
-We may have a ghost. Who moves stuff in the living room and mysteriously leaves toothbrushes that don't belong to either of us lying around.
-dishwasher is broken, but hopefully will be fixed soon
-will get a "real" parking spot soon! woop woop!

Work update:
-Kids are generally great!
-Except the grade 6 class, of 35+ students and only 2 girls. Not that I necessarily prefer teaching girls to boys, but they're just SO outta control. Need to do some research and/or bring out "The Teacher Voice". After the overwhelming time with students in the first grade 6 class, I was more firm/stern with the grade 6s today, and it was much better. I guess I'll just have to put my foot down!
-so far, classes have been really boring just going through course outlines and stuff
-40 minutes for a class is like NOTHING. I'm used to 72 minute classes, so the pacing is going to be a big thing to get used to!
-I'm quickly learning that I"m going to have to kiss lunch hours goodbye. Both days, I have a short break around 10 and then not til 3 or so. Yowza! Eating on the run, it is!
-Heather's been so great helping me settle in - and she's super pregnant! I'm so grateful she's been able to answer all my questions.
That's about it for now - don't have much time to write more and my stomach is grumbling! Better get home and get planning!
