New Computer, New Visa, and a Close Shot at $21 Million.
Ah! It's bedtime. 12:12am with an early start tomorrow for work. Can we make wishes at 12:12 too? Or just 11:11??
Long story short this is what's going on in my life recently:
-Today was not a great day. I went to the mall to get these adorable shoes that I've been thinking about for a week or 2, and I had my money ready and everything, and then I tried them on and realized that they looked much better on the shelf than on my foot. So I passed on them. And my sister was with me, and she bought TWO pairs.
-Then, my sister and I went to Starbucks. I ordered for the both of us, and said something like "Can I have a mocha and a java chip tall frappuccino, please?", implying that they were both frappuccinos, but apparently that wasn't clear enough, because I ended up with just a mocha. Which, you know, was good. But not when I was wanting a frappuccino.
-My parents are on vacation and they got angry when I said that I asked Queen's to send me my long-awaited visa letter and res application to my home instead of going there to pick it up, saying that it's just going to take longer for it to get to me that way...and it's getting down to the wire in terms of visa deadlines.... (I chose to do so because it's hard for me to make it to Queen's campus during business hours because of my job).
-THEN I get home and find an email from the University of Aberdeen saying that there was a mistake with the visa letters they sent out, so now they're sending them out AGAIN...which will be even more time delaying the process...not that I'm complaining about the mistake they made, just the fact that after all that stress of waiting, it has to start all over again.
On the bright side, though, I got a new computer! My old one broke, so I sent it away to get fixed, and it was unfixable, so they replaced it with a newer, better version (albeit smaller screen--so far I haven't noticed though!) But yea! I was probably going to get a new one in a year or so anyway, but this was a bonus because it was covered by my warranty!! :D Yay!
On another note, my parents were SO CLOSE to winning the lottery. They got the first 2 numbers right on, and then EVERY OTHER NUMBER was 1-3 numbers away from the winning numbers. Maybe that sounded anti-climatic, but if you were there reading the winning number being something like 01, 19, 17, 21, 28, 30; and the numbers on our card were something like 01, 19, 18, 24, 27, 31, it was just unbelievable. No points for coming close, though. Too bad. If only, eh?
FINALLY, before I get to bed, just an idea of what's to come: I'm writing a 600-word statement for an application for a scholarship and so far I feel like it's coming together well. I'll post it as soon as I'm finished with it.
Until then, it's back to work, sleep, and putting away at visa documents for me!
Thanks for reading,
Beckers
